Campus Alert

TheCampus IT Help Deskis staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (MT) Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (MT) Saturday-Sunday (11:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Korea Time Monday-Friday and 12:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Korea Time Saturday-Sunday).

Campus Information Services (CIS)
Many university services require you to log in using yourUniversity Network ID (uNID)— which you received from Admissions when you were accepted — and password. The first time you log in toCampus Information Services (CIS)or cis.utah.edu, you will be prompted to set a new password and answer security questions.
The CIS portal contains a variety of key areas, including class tools, graduation information, grades, financial services, library research tools, and more. Please visitour help guidefor information about the updated portal.
Campus maps
TheUniversity GIS teamhas partnered with several university groups to launch maps that help people find their way around campus and the hospital, and highlight campus assets.

Canvas
Canvasis the U’s primary online learning management system (LMS), where you can view classes, grades, and any additional content provided for your classes (videos, discussion boards, etc.). You can access Canvas bylogging in with your uNID and uNID password, or by selecting “Canvas” in the CIS portal. For Canvas support, call 801-581-6112 or emailclasshelp@utah.edu.
Computer labs
The largest student computer lab on campus isMarriott Library Knowledge Commons. Many colleges also host labs or student workstations. For a more comprehensive list of campus computer labs, please refer tothisIT Knowledge Base article.
Digital Learning Technologies
Digital Learning Technologies offers support and tutorials for Adobe products and Canvas. Students may also borrow audio, video, and imaging equipment and cables for class-related work.
Duo Security (Duo 2FA)
Students are required to use two-factor authentication (2FA) viaDuo Securityfor certain U resource accounts and applications, including UMail, CIS, and Canvas. 2FA helps prevent unauthorized access to university email and online applications as a result ofphishing schemes and other scams. Exam Services
UOnlineprovidesproctored exam support. The main campus test lab is located in Marriott Library in the UOnline Center. Extension sites also provide proctored services.

The University of Utah has several campus agreements to provide some of the most popular software to students at no cost or at a greatly reduced price. This software can be foundin theSoftware Catalog, which you can access via CIS.

Libraries
There arefour major libraries on campus: J. Willard Marriott Library, Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, James E. Faust Law Library, and McKay Music Library.
MobileU
WithMobileU, students can connect to campus on the go. The official mobile app of the University of Utah provides a convenient way to navigate student life, helping students find their way around campus; stay up to date on news and events; and accessinformation about helpful academic and technology resources. Phishing emails
The U’sInformation Security Office (ISO) asks users to report suspicious emails using the Phish Alert button or by forwarding the message as an attachment tophish@utah.edu.

RedPrint
RedPrint allows you to send print jobs to the RedPrint cloud to be retrieved any time at any RedPrint machine. Simply tap your UCard to the card reader at any RedPrint machine, then proceed with printing. Copiers have been strategically placed in more than 10 campus buildings, with more locations on the way.

Through Marriott Library and Eccles Health Sciences Library,students can check out various technology/devicesfor a limited amount of time. In-person pickup and home deliveryare available. Available equipment includes:

UIT news and information resources
UIT provides a number ofIT news and information resourcesfor the U community, including our monthlyNode 4 newsletter with university IT news, software announcements, employee features, and more;email news service; unplanned outage alerts and updates; and a host of websites for our teams and services.
UMail
All students have access toUMail, a free university email accounton theMicrosoft 365 (M365)platform. UMail is one of the primary ways the university contacts students and shares official information.
To log in:
- Go towww.umail.utah.edu
- Sign in with youruNID@umail.utah.eduemail address and your uNID password
- You may be prompted to verify your identity with Duo 2FA
You can also set up UMail with a mobile or desktop email client. We recommend that youcreate an email aliasthat follows a firstname.lastname@utah.edu format.
University networks
Wired connections are available in student housing, computer labs, and office areas. Campus also has four wireless networks: UConnect, UGuest, ULink, and eduroam.
- UConnectis a secure connection requiring a valid uNID login. Most users can visitonboard.utah.eduto connect a device.
- UGuestis an unsecured, open-access network for visitors with limited bandwidth.
- ULinkis the university’s wireless network for Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as PlayStation, Xbox, Roku, Chromecast, etc.
- Eduroamallows students, faculty, and staff from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions.
Web conferencing and collaboration tools
The university offersseveralproducts thatprovide online communication and collaboration via video and voice calls, meetings, messaging, content sharing, calendering, and more.

Xfinity on Campus — UTV
Xfinity on Campus (XOC) is a low-cost Comcast streaming service for students in Housing & Residential Education (HRE) buildings and other buildings subscribed to University Television (UTV). The UTV-administered service features a lineup of 260+ channels (PDF); thousands of on-demand programs; TV Go,which includes 60+channels for iOS and Android; and 20 hours of cloud-hosted DVR storageper user.
